The medical supply unit (ceiling column or boom) is the single point that brings oxygen, medical air, vacuum, electrical outlets and data network to the critical patient's headwall — organized on articulated arms, with no cables and hoses crossing the floor. In adult, pediatric and neonatal ICU, and in the OR and hybrid rooms, the unit defines how modular the bed is: how many devices fit around it, how fast the nursing team can rearrange, and how much floor stays clear for emergencies.
