Hospital and life support

Hospital Bed

A bed out of order blocks discharge and forces patient transfer. Replacement, electric drives and maintenance SLA all inside the contract — no idle bed fleet.

Understand

What it is and what it's for

The modern hospital bed is an active clinical platform: electric motors position headrest, footrest and trendelenburg in seconds; side rails prevent falls; brake casters allow transport without patient transfer. Advanced models include emergency CPR release, integrated scale, bed-exit alarms and pneumatic mattresses for pressure ulcer prevention. From general wards to high-acuity ICUs, it is the patient's most constant contact point with hospital care.

Applications

  • General inpatient and surgical: post-op recovery and inpatient stay
  • ICU and step-down: critical positioning with emergency CPR release
  • Maternity: labor, delivery, recovery and postpartum (LDRP) beds
  • Bariatric: extended capacity (250–350 kg) with larger dimensions
  • Pediatric and nursery: purpose-built beds with age-appropriate rails and sizes
  • Long-term care and home care: active mattress for pressure ulcer prevention

What to evaluate when choosing

  • Electric (CPR motors) vs manual: electric is the ICU standard; manual fits general wards
  • Weight capacity: 180 kg standard; bariatric 250–350 kg with reinforced frame
  • Side rails: foldable or fixed, with pediatric locks where required
  • Mattress: high-density foam (inpatient), viscoelastic (recovery), pneumatic (ICU/pressure ulcers)
  • Integrated scale and bed-exit alarm: for critical patients or fall risk
  • Headboard with medical gas panel and outlets — power, nurse call, lighting

What's in the contract

Equipment Subscription with operations included

A bed under open-ended maintenance blocks discharge and forces patient transfer — logistics overhead and patient dissatisfaction. In the Blue contract, preventive service runs in low-occupancy windows, corrective response has a defined SLA and replacement of motor, casters and rails is inside the scope — the hospital keeps its full bed fleet without turning into a quarterly parts budget.
