What it is and what it's for
The AED is a defibrillator for cardiac arrest from VF (ventricular fibrillation) or pulseless VT (ventricular tachycardia) in non-hospital settings (offices, schools, malls, aircraft) or pre-hospital response (ambulances, rescue). The device analyzes the rhythm automatically and delivers a shock only when needed — a trained bystander operates it safely. The chain of survival (call → CPR → defibrillation → advanced care) is what separates death from full recovery.
