What it is and what it's for
PET-CT is a hybrid system that combines, in a single acquisition, the functional imaging of PET (Positron Emission Tomography) with the anatomical imaging of CT. The radiopharmaceutical — most commonly FDG (fluorodeoxyglucose) — is taken up by tissues according to their metabolism, and PET maps that uptake; CT provides precise anatomical localization. The exam fuses both into co-registered images that show WHERE the lesion is AND HOW metabolically active it is — the gold standard for cancer staging, treatment response assessment and distinguishing viable tissue from scarring.

- CT channel count: 16-slice covers oncology; 64+ unlocks high-throughput cardiology and radiation therapy planning
- Iterative reconstruction (Bayesian, BSREM) cuts exam time to under 15 min per patient without losing quality
- Room with specific radiation shielding (lead), hot lab and dedicated waiting area for injected patients
